Tips on managing a junior? I’m getting little help in careers and employment?

I have a newish adminstration job in where I have a junior to manage, I have managed before but in retail and the people I managed were easy to communicate with. This junior has been in the company longer than I have and has become ’set in her ways’ I have had a polite chat with her to thank her for her support etc. I thought all was well and told her I will be introducing a few changes to make our lives easier.
I had a chat with my boss who told me that my being there has got her back up, he said it’s not personal and I didn’t take it as such, but now i’m not really sure how to approach her knowing that she ‘resents’ my being there. My boss spoke to her and explained that she is the junior so MY word is final.
How should I approach her? I always work hard and give my empolyer more that they expect, I am concerned because her performance is a reflection on me and I ALWAYS perform! My concern is that her resentment will result in her making my life difficult.
Any suggestions?
BTW- My boss sopke to her off his own back, infact I knew nothing of it until late last week, so he obviously sees the problem with her attitude
She apparentely said ‘why does she need to be here and why should I move from my desk etc’

…for starters, keep a journal of any thing significant…this is for personal keeping…password protect it on a computer and don’t embellish…stay to the facts…write it down anything important…good or bad…and date everything written…this will protect you and the Junior from false accusation etc…take note of any little thing she likes, make light conversation about it…offer compliments when deserved, try to make her feel like a team member…this will take time and won’t happen over night.
