I write a blog about employment in the healthcare industry. I want to write something about making connnections with potential employers. For instance, how would I get the name of a hiring manager if I didn’t know anyone at the company? Or, how would I network and find a connection in a potential employer. Any other tips are appreciated. Thanks everyone!

It’s not easy to get the name of the hiring manager because the recruiter is the gatekeeper of the position. Only qualified candidates get sent to the hiring manager. As a recruiter, I don’t think I want to share the ways around that.

As far as networking, I meet people at conferences, conventions, industry job fairs, etc. Also, a lot of higher level people teach classes or, perhaps, write articles about current topics in their field. If I come across such an article, I might e-mail them and tell them how much I enjoyed it.
