The Labor Department also declares that no applicant may be assigned to jobs that offer less than the state’s applicable minimum wage.
Employment agencies in New York pay particular attention to background and educational checks. They are sanctioned by law not to place minors into any jobs or job classifications that is beyond the scope of Student Employment practices. There are provisions in the Labor Law and Education Law about employment of minors, and breaking those provisions are considered a federal offense.
